By creating an account, accessing, or using Hellas Online (the "Game"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms") and the Privacy Policy. If you do not agree to these Terms or the Privacy Policy, do not register for or use the Game.
The Game is currently in invite-only closed beta. Existing invitees accepted these Terms at the time their account was created. When public registration opens, completion of the registration form will constitute acceptance of these Terms and the Privacy Policy.
You must be at least 16 years old to use the Game. If you are between 16 and the age of majority in your country (typically 18), you confirm that you have your parent or legal guardian's permission to register and to accept these Terms on your behalf. The operators may, at their discretion, request reasonable evidence of such permission.
You may not use the Game if you have previously been banned, if you are evading a suspension, or if applicable law prohibits your use of the Game.
You agree to provide accurate registration information and to keep it up to date. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your password and for all activity on your account.
One person may hold multiple accounts only with explicit operator permission. Sharing accounts, selling accounts, or transferring accounts is not permitted and may result in suspension of all involved accounts.
You agree NOT to:
Zero tolerance. Sexual content involving minors, including child sexual abuse material ("CSAM"), is strictly prohibited. Any such content results in immediate, permanent ban without warning, deletion of the offending material, and reporting to relevant law enforcement and child-safety authorities (including the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children where applicable).
The operators may take action - including warnings, temporary suspension, permanent ban, or removal of game state (resources, units, towns, kingdoms) - at their discretion if they reasonably believe a violation has occurred.
You retain ownership of any text you submit (display name, bio, kingdom name, kingdom description, chat messages, forum posts, town names). By submitting that content you grant the operators a non-exclusive, royalty-free, worldwide license to display, store, and distribute it within the Game and on Game-related communication channels.
You are solely responsible for the content you submit. The operators may remove or modify any user-submitted content at any time without notice if it violates these Terms.
The Game, including its source code, art assets, mechanics, names, and trademarks, is the property of the Hellas Online operators and is protected by copyright and other applicable laws. Nothing in these Terms grants you any ownership interest in the Game or its assets beyond the limited right to play within these Terms.
All in-game resources, units, buildings, research, kingdom membership, and any other game state ("Virtual Items") are licensed to you for use solely within the Game. Virtual Items have no monetary value and may not be sold, traded, or exchanged for real-world currency. Off-platform sale of accounts or Virtual Items, or use of third-party real-money trading services, is grounds for permanent termination of all involved accounts.
The operators may modify, remove, or reset Virtual Items at any time, including for game balancing, anti-cheating action, world resets, or technical reasons.
Account information (email, hashed password, display name) and game-state data is stored on operator-controlled servers located in Finland. The operators do not sell or share account information with third parties for advertising or marketing purposes.
Standard server logs, analytics events, and chat / forum content may be retained for moderation, debugging, and abuse prevention. The operators may share information with law enforcement if compelled by valid legal process.
Full details on what data is collected, how it is used, how long it is retained, and your rights as a data subject (access, correction, deletion, portability, objection) are described in the Privacy Policy.
The operators reserve the right to suspend or terminate any account at any time, with or without notice, for any reason including (without limitation) violation of these Terms, suspected cheating, inactivity, or operational necessity.
You may stop using the Game at any time. Account deletion requests can be submitted through the in-game Bug Report form or by emailing privacy@hellasonline.xyz. On account deletion, personal account data (email, password hash) is removed within 30 days. Pseudonymized game-state and chat / forum content authored by the account may be retained for the active lifetime of the game world it was created in, as described further in the Privacy Policy.
The provisions of Sections 5, 6, 7, 10, 11, 12, 14, 15, 16, and 18 survive termination of these Terms. The operators' right to retain and report records of Terms violations - including those described in Section 4 (Zero Tolerance) - also survives termination.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, you agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless the operators of Hellas Online from any claims, damages, losses, liabilities, costs, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of or related to: (a) content you submit to the Game; (b) your use of or inability to use the Game; (c) your violation of these Terms; or (d) your violation of any rights of any third party, including other players.
The Game is provided "AS IS" and "AS AVAILABLE" without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including without limitation warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement. The operators do not guarantee uninterrupted availability, freedom from bugs, or that the Game will meet your expectations.
Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion of certain warranties; in those jurisdictions the exclusions above apply only to the maximum extent permitted by applicable law.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, the operators shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, consequential, special, or punitive damages arising from or in connection with your use of the Game, including loss of game progress, Virtual Items, account state, or data.
The total aggregate liability of the operators for any claim arising from or related to the Game shall not exceed the greater of (a) ten euros (€10) or (b) the total amounts you have actually paid to the operators in the twelve (12) months preceding the event giving rise to the claim.
Some jurisdictions (including parts of the European Union) do not allow the limitation or exclusion of liability for certain types of damages. Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be excluded under applicable law, including liability for death, personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, or any other liability that cannot lawfully be excluded.
The operators are not liable for any failure or delay in performance caused by events beyond their reasonable control, including but not limited to: hosting provider outages, internet backbone failures, natural disasters, war, terrorism, civil unrest, government action, labor disputes, pandemics, or denial-of-service attacks.
These Terms, and any dispute arising out of or in connection with the Game, are governed by the laws of Finland, without regard to its conflict-of-laws principles. The United Nations Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods does not apply.
Informal resolution required first. Before commencing any court proceedings, the parties shall attempt in good faith to resolve any dispute informally. The complaining party shall send a written notice to privacy@hellasonline.xyz describing the dispute, the desired outcome, and any supporting information. The operators shall have thirty (30) days from receipt of the notice to respond and attempt resolution.
If the dispute is not resolved within that thirty-day window, it shall be brought exclusively in the competent courts of Helsinki, Finland. Nothing in this section deprives a consumer of the protection of mandatory provisions of the law of their country of residence, including the right to bring proceedings in the courts of that country where required by law.
If any provision of these Terms is held to be invalid, illegal, or unenforceable by a court of competent jurisdiction, the remaining provisions shall remain in full force and effect. The invalid provision shall be replaced with a valid one that most closely reflects the original intent.
These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and the operators regarding your use of the Game, and supersede any prior agreements between you and the operators on the same subject.
The operators may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be communicated through an in-game notification or a notice on the login page. Continued use of the Game after such notice constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision; a brief revision history is available at the bottom of this page.
If you believe content posted in the Game (kingdom name, kingdom description, town name, chat message, forum post, or any other user-submitted text) infringes your copyright, send a written complaint to privacy@hellasonline.xyz containing:
On receipt of a valid complaint, the operators will remove or disable access to the allegedly infringing content and notify the user who submitted it. The user may submit a counter-notice (containing their name, contact, the removed content, and a statement under penalty of perjury that the content was removed by mistake or misidentification). If a valid counter-notice is received, the content may be restored after fourteen (14) days unless the original complainant has filed a court action in the meantime.
Repeat infringers will have their accounts terminated.
